Personalizing Your Capcatcher
  1. Choose Your Design
    • Click "view samples" (next to the drop down) for an idea of how your text will appear on the Capcatcher.
    • You do not need to tell us you want your text "centered" or "large".  Even though three personalized lines are available, if you select "Plain 1 Line/Initials" our designers will fill the whole surface with your inscription, just like in the Samples.  After all, we want you to be happy with the final product.
    • Please note: Initials are inscribed in standard style, not monogram style.  So John Robert Smith's initials would be JRS.
  2. Choosing a Font:
A font gives style to your words.  Again, you can see the fonts in detail by clicking "view samples" next to the font drop down.  Here are some helpful suggestions for picking a font:
    • Formal Fonts:
      • Murray Hill is elegant and airy. It gives the feel of calligraphy and is perfect for weddings. However, it does not look good in all caps, initials or lengthy inscriptions.
      • Berling is classic and strong. It provides a timeless look and is very readable, especially when you have a lot to say.
    • Fun Fonts:
      • DeVinne is the life of the party. It is bold, readable and happy. It looks good in all caps as well as upper and lower case, and is especially attractive when printing simply a name.
      • Freehand evokes the spirit of the Old World brewmasters. Think frothy steins, hearty food and good times. Readable, but with a distinctive flare.
    • Masculine Fonts:
      • Goudy Handtooled adds honor and dignity to any name. Brings to mind the dark wood and rich leather of an 18th century tavern. Looks good in all capsespecially initials and last namesbut it looses its character when the inscription gets too long.
      • Berling. Classic and strong, it provides a timeless and venerable look. It is the most readable of all the fonts, making it perfect for initials, names and long quotations.
  3. Choose Your Color
    • "View samples" is your friend for selecting a color. We've used actual photographs in an effort to give you the truest representation of how color will look on your Capcatcher.
    • Note how some fonts (Murray Hill and Goudy Handtooled in particular) don't give you much color when the letters get small.  We recommend choosing a bold font like Devinne or Berling for 3-line Designs or inscriptions over 10 characters per line.
    • If you want the "color background" look pictured in some of our samples, select "Black (solid) Background" as your design, then select your color.
What to Say
  • As a rule, Less is More. Fewer letters look better and are more readable. That is not to say you cant put your favorite quote on a Capcatcheryou can. Just remember that the more letters you type, the smaller they get. Choosing a font that is good for long quotes will help.
  • For short inscriptions, keeping it on one line is better than breaking it into two lines. For example, Bobs Bar (one line) looks better than "Bob's Bar" (two lines"):

  • For weddings, consider these popular layouts:

  • Also for weddings, the accepted spellings are Best Man and Groomsman, not Bestman and Groomsmen.
  • Finally, our product will last a lifetime. Try to make your inscription timeless, too.
Caveats:
  • We are not spell-checkers or editors. What you type is what you get. Make sure your inscription is exactly as you want it to read before you submit it. If you want all caps, type in all caps. If you want punctuation, include it.  That being said, our designers will make what you do submit look as good as it possibly can.
  • However, Capcatchers.com does reserve the right to make minor changes for proper wording, spelling, punctuation, capitalization, placement and spacing when necessary for the most pleasing appearance. We want your order to look good; We want you to be happy.
  • We are not the moral police. We will inscribe what you submit (with a few extreme exceptions.) But do try to use good taste. What if your mom stops by unannounced?
  • We suggest you order like items at the same time. We cannot guarantee personalized items will be identical on separate orders due to slight changes in font size and positioning.
  • Sorry, but we cannot accept returns on personalized items unless we have made an error. Refunds cannot be given for personalized items without authorization.
